Information Surge
Jan 15, 2005

When I started Isurge in 1996 I was living in a hotel in Seoul, South Korea. The internet at the time was just starting to catch on, but I knew it would offer anyone who connected to it an overwhelming amount of information. My first websites were a blog of my travels for my friends back in the US. I ended up having to print and mail my blog to most of my friends and family since few of them were on line. Being an enterprising fellow I was able to trade my newly acquired skill as a web developer for free beer at a local brewery in Seoul, and then for a stack of Wan from a local bar who wanted to be online. Those humble beginnings helped me to land my first jobs back in the states at fledgling internet companies were I was lucky enough to get a few stock options before the whole thing went bust. As time went by and I got settled Isurge was reborn as a research project, with the goal to figure out what business could I do long term that would offer me a stable income and a flexible way of living. What I eventually figured out was hosted services. If you can provide a good service at a good price then people have no problem paying you for it. To get to that point Isurge morphed into Abacia and then to DW Alliance which is where it is at today. DW Alliance is probably the biggest little company in the world. Today 2005/Jan/05 is my first day of getting my blog back online.
